Edward, or "EB" as he was known was my grandfather. He attended the University of Iowa, and was an ensign in the US Navy near the end of WWI (A-522739). At the University of Iowa, he met Luella Anderson.

EB was a territory sales agent for Warren Webster & Company, headquartered in Camden, New Jersey, before founding Mechanical Constructors with his brother, James with offices in Moline, Illinois, and Phoenix, Arizona. He was a private pilot flying twin-engine Beechcraft airplanes and the first member of Short Hills Country CLub, East Moline, Illinois, with a powered golf cart.

As a Club member, EB was in favor of obtaining powered golf carts. Those in charge were convinced that these carts would not work, so EB bought one for himself. Shortly thereafter, several Club members appeared with powered golf carts.


Partner w/ brother James in Mechanical Constructors, an Illinios based major contractor with additional offices in Phoenix, AZ (Late 1950's, early 1960's). Was the first member of Short Hills Country Club, East Moline, IL, with a powered golf cart.
