Continuing the theory of Iron-Age Forts I wonder if anyone with a better grasp of French (preferably Norman-French) knows if there was a particular French word for describing the walls of an Iron Age fort. There were enough of them around probably still in fair condition in Norman times for the Norman's to have a specific identifier word(s). There is a pamphlet published by F Newell "Excavation at Walls Hill Renfrewshire" (1960) Paisley - I would dearly like to obtain a copy or facsimile. Messages In This Thread
