The Scots family motto on the coat of arms is "Fac et Spera" (Do and Hope) - not a good motto for a profesisonal accountant.
The Irish family when they matriculated their arms obviously recognised their Scots connection and knew of their motto as they used "Sapere Aude" - which I think means "Dare to Try" or "Dare Wisely".
Obviously our Irish cousins recognise a smart pun when they see one.
