Re: Gauldwallys

In Response To: Gauldwallys (Tom Caldwell)

Didn't take me long to find a Gauldwell Castle in Banff Scotland.
Don't hink it has anythng to do with Caldwell's but does something to support my hypothesis of the origin of the name.

The castle has alternative names:
Cauddwell, Goldwell, Gallvall (Castle)

The castle seems to have originally been built by one Freskin, a follower of David I of Scotland in the 12th century. David was the king who introduced Normans to help control his troublesome areas.
