Caldwell research
By:Tom Caldwell

I am interested in research into the connection between the Caldwell families of the English Midlands and those of Ayrshire/Renfrew. This is connected to the English Estates of the Scottish Kings "The Honour of Huntingdon". The Scottish King David I introduced Norman descendents into Scotland. The Caldwell's probably came with the FitzAllans (most probably) or the de Morviles (or both). David was Comes of Southern Scotland to his elder brother. Comes (or Count) was a Roman term for the delegated military ruler of a frontier province. Strathclyde was possibly regarded as such and populated by Norman Fuedal Lords.
