Quick response
Its late here in Oz (rather early more like) I should call it a night
Just been looking up the Brisbane family from the Largs area they eventually beame the landholders of Kempisland which was a Caldwell property from 1496-1610. The original grant was to a Thomas Caldwell so I wonder if I have any land rights (smile).
The Brisbane's also are supposed to have come up to Scotland in the train of the FitzAllan's. I don't know where Kempisland is but it is supposed to have been on the upper reaches of the Gogo Water which is Largs' river. The map shows it as almost a ravine and no farms currently. I have managed to find a photograph which shows it as rough grazing country probably farmable for sheep.
The Brisbane site has an extensive family tree on it and I was going to look for any Caldwell's but it wouldn't load despite several attempts.
Will keep the site posted.
