There is a memorial to a Caldwell family in Rolleston Church South Staffodshire. These Caldwell's had apparently come at some time earlier from Caldwell Derbyshire.

Thomas Caldwell died 1554 and his wife Alice died 1579. their sons Lawrence, Florens and William are also buried there.

Their coat of arms carries a cross patee fitche which was known at the "Cross de Maltho Caldwell" (reference Maurice R Smith DFA FRSA 1981)

This family has a tradition that it was an English Family that went to Scotland and returned to England sometime before 1500.
