I believe that there was a benedictine Monastery at Much Wenlock and note that Caldwell is almost an anglicisation of Bendicte. I am not a latin scholar so please forgive me if I am wrong. I also heard that Benedict Arnold had a Caldwell ancestor so perhaps that is where the benedict came from (?).
