It would appear that the town of Caldwell in Liberia might have been named after Elias Boudinot Caldwell d 1825 who was the Clerk of the Supreme Court of the United States and b-in-l of Rev Robert Finlay the founder of the American Colonisation Society. Elias served ast the ACS Secretary.
