Anton Caldwell, descendant of a slave, was interviewed by a newspaper, about the Alexander Slave Cemetery in Mecklenberg. Some interesting points were made. Evidently by reviewing U.S. census records for 1850 and 1860, it was confirmed that there were no refugee slaves from the Alexander plantation. The site has an extensive list of references
