Caldwell Family Verbal History
By:Annelle Caldwell Taylor
Date: 16:00 5/20/02

My Grandfather, John Henry Caldwell SR. was born in Mississippi in 1882, in Attala Co, his father was born in 1846 and served in the Calvary of Mississippi during the Civil War. John Marion Caldwell, my great-grand father was a very young man at the surrender of the South. His father William Thomas Caldwell was born in 1801. My "Big Daddy" told me many stories of the history of my Caldwell family. He said we came to Mississippi from South Carolina, we were related to John C.Calhoun, we were Scot-Irish and also French Hugenots. He only knew the oral History of the Caldwell family. I was pleased when I saw that this oral history I was blessed to have heard in the 1950's & 60's as a child was being discussed here.
