I've got maybe 20 or thirty pages on this on the site, but the highlights; Barbarossa Bros. where late 15th, early 16th century Muslim pirates. If Caldwells were Pres., well, then Cromwell went after them same as the Irish. The earlier Plantations were almost 50 years before Cromwell, Time and space just doesn't play out. Now, since the time that I wrote on these myths I've learned a few new things to throw into the fun. I can't remember if it was Tom from Oz or David from Canada who brought up Sir James being in Toulon, perhaps as a spy of sorts. There is also a story of Cromwell stopping at a Castle where the lady of the manor was a Caldwell and having conversation over tea. Then there is Randy's theory that Oliver Cromwell was the bastard child of one of his parents relation, or perhaps from an affair of his father with a Caldwell lass. It's a bit of a stretch for me. Caldwells were in Ireland before Cromwell was born. The castle in Ireland was bought from another planter family, and was a fortified establishment as was required of a certain level of planter. Plunkett has made an interesting observation in the past regarding two similar coats of arms at two different castles. The Scottish castle is said to have passed to a female heir of William Lord Chancellor who married a Mure. Anyway, just my two-cents. Messages In This Thread
