Thanks Plunkett. I did not have any idea what a demi lion is. I was not even clear about what is meant by the word "crest." I found the following on the internet: "The demi lions are or (gold), the symbol for justice and stainless honour as well as generosity.....The CREST was held in highest esteem because only knights who had seen actual service in the field could acquire a crest....The lion is the king of beasts and was originally granted only to members of royalty." http://freepages. genealogy. rootsweb. com/~harrisonrep/ harrcoa. htm I would be delighted if you would display the various Caldwell crests on-line, that you have found, in the manner that is shown at http://www. demon. co. uk/apl385/gilling/her-fo. htm. Perhaps a camera with closeup lens might be used to capture the images. I appreciate very much all your contributions to date. I would encourage you to go a little bit further. Sponsor John Caldwell has posted some superbly laid out articles accessed through the blue column to your left. These include one article on Williamite Wars, each page with an image or two. I hope that you would post something not merely equally as appealing, but as best as you are capable. Messages In This Thread
