I was born in Kilmarnock but am now in Australia
My GGrandfather Joseph Caldwell married Janet Wilson 29.3.1867 at "Peace & Plenty" near Riccarton which is a southern suburb of Kilmarnock
Joseph's brother John Married a Mary Smith on 24.9.1869 she was born about 1844. her parents were Thomas Smith and Margaret (nee McWhinnie).
John and Mary had at least three children in Scotland Matthew, Thomas & Helen and is thought to have emigrated to Australia with his family. I have not been able to find any further information.
John & Josseph had an aunt Mary Caldwell b 30.9.1830 at Riccarton.

The circumstantial evidence of family names is strong but I cannot find a direct link.
All the families were coalminers.
