Hello, my grandfather is Bob Caldwell of Harlen, Ky. He was murdered by Grant Gross and Roy Slusher. Sometime around 1948 - 50? My father is Andrew Caldwell born December 1944 died October 2016. His mother was Catherine Roark. Any information you have to give would be appreciated! Hope to hear from someone soon. Thank you.

I am trying to fill in the past of my great great grandfather, Matthew Caldwell who emigrated to Philadelphia with his family in 1839. I know he came over on the Caledonia and that he had lived before that in Ireland but I believe he was born in Renfrewshire, Scotland. Also, several members of his family had the middle name of Huston (including my grandmother) but I can't find any family connection to Hustons. Can anyone give me any information on this?

Hello, Everyone:
I just found out that I was adopted, and the Caldwell family through Margaret P. Caldwell m. John Cook 1776. I am just now finding out who my ancestors are, and I am putting data together for my children and grand-children. This is an amazing website. Much gratitude for all the hard work! The circle of family just gets bigger and bigger!

Thank you so much for the thoughtful entries and stories. It helps with the myths and legends I was told as a child. We have many links to the revolutionary war, Whiskey Rebellion, War of 1812, Civil War, WW1, and WW2. I have finally had a breakthrough in the last year using from - where I can now trace my Caldwell genealogy beyond my 3rd Great-Grandfather...and actually have a link to one of the legendary three Caldwell Brothers of Ayrshire - Alexander Caldwell. My Caldwell history is mainly based in the Pittsburgh/Monongahela Valley Pennsylvania area. Though mixed in the American melting pot, my DNA results showed that I am about 75-80% western German/eastern French with 20% split between Irish, Scot, and English. In the last two generations we are now spread from Penn. to Colorado and California. Looking forward to more research and new findings about our Caldwell history.

Best Regards,

Josh Caldwell
