BIRTHPLACE: Note that the county of Keokuk, Iowa was the parent county of Washington county, Iowa and she would not be aware of the name change. RELIGION: Quaker, very staunch in the faith SURNAME: tradition: BLACK originally SCHWARTZ, people came from Germany.(Daisy Banks, Hannibal, MO) RESIDENCES: went to Pueblo, Colo to care for dau-i-l, Minnie Lee P. West, and her children ill with tuberculosis. She lived with dau Kate May West Hill who had moved there; She was in St. Louis, 1900 Census, living in the Lindley home, working as a seamstress. She came to Salt Lake City to help son, William Henry, widower, care for children, Lyda and Harrold. According to the recollections of grd Lyda West Barney, SLC, Mary Elizabeth went to live with Kate West Hill and died there. RESIDENCE NOTE: from 11-19-97 telephone conversation with gr dau, Marie Fritsche Timmons, Sun City, AZ, dau of Jessie Sarah West Fritsche: "Grandma West" came to St. Louis to live with dau Nell Burkholder, then to Jessie's house in St. Louis, She described her as a very petite person. She made quilts for Marie's baby doll.
