Nora studied music at Ohio Wesleyan University at Delaware and was said to be a very accomplished pianist.

Rev. John Gray has several letters from Nora to her mother Amanda, and from Amanda to Nora and Peter while they were on thier honeymoon out west.

19 Jan, 1888 from Riverside, CA, from Nora to her parents. They have been to Texas and New Mexico.

Rev. Gray has Nora's Family Bible;

"When my mother died I found among her papers some genealogy pages out of an old Bible. Then when my mothers sister, Helen Slyh Scamahorn passed on, my first cousin, Gary Slyh gave me Nora's old Bible. As I opened the old leather Bible there were several pages that had been torn out and when I laid the pages my mother had against them it was a perfect fit. The Bible is now back together again.

In Nora's Bible is her original marriage certificate to Peter Ramlow along with a record of the births, marriages, and deaths of her children and grand children."

A note in daughter Marnetha's handwriting says, " My mother was the daughter of Thomas and Amanda Hess. Their home was where Anna & Ivan Latham live now. Thomas Hess owned the farm my mother had, where the Union Cemetery is now."
