This young couple spent a year on a farm in Clay Township, Wayne County, before taking up the study of Medicine. They began their study with a well known physician and surgeon at Clarinda, Ia. The following year they attended the Keokuk Medical College. In 1892 Dr. Evaline McGuire graduated from the Woman's Hospital Medical College of Chicago, now a part of Northwestern University. Dr. McGuire and her husband opened their first office in LeRoy, Ia. A few months later they moved to Seymour, Iowa, but due to Mrs. McGuire's health they moved to Walsenburg, Colorado, in 1894, were there for 16 years. Had been in Seymour, Ia 3 years. Carl as he was called, graduated from Rush Medical College, in Chicago. In 1912 they retired from practice and moved to Humeston, Iowa. Eva, as she was called, helped organize and was a charter member of the chapter of Eastern Star at Seymour, Ia and was its first worthy matron. She transferred her membership to Walsenburg, Colo., then to Humeston, Iowa. She was awarded a life membership pin of Eastern Star Lodge, Radiant Chapter No. 30 of Humeston, Ia. Her funeral services were held from Hutchensons' funeral home in Humeston. [LLC]
