[JAC - Lucy Lucille Caldwell Stotts produced the first Caldwell genealogy of my lineage in 1935, and updated it again 30 years later. The beginnings of my research were taken from her work and have grown to almost 3,800 relatives as of this writing. Lucille has long since past. I have included as many of her direct family notes as possible out of respect for her years of work to produce the foundation upon which I later came to build.]

Attended grade school in the Lewisburg school. Had two years of Highschool in Corydon, Iowa, but due to illness did not graduate there. Later graduated in the 1920 Class of Capitol City Commercial College. Exercises held Jan. 27, 1921, in Des Moines, Iowa.

Worked as Stenographer for a few months, and then was head bookkeeper at Clemmons Automobile Company of Des Moines, IA. for three years. Joined the Unity Baptist Church in Wayne County, Feb. 8, 1910.

Married Monday, Sept. 18, 1922 in the Highland Park Presbyterian Church study, Des Moines, Iowa at 8:00 to Harry Claude Stotts (always called Claude), born May 15, 1881, Panora, Iowa of Elza Sanford Stotts and wife Alice Roberts (Lindley) Stotts. (NOTE: Elza S. was born May 2, 1856 Redfield, Iowa. Died March 16, 1924 in Des Moines, Iowa. Alice Roberts Lindley Stotts born Feb 5, 1862 near Stuart, Dallas County, Iowa. Died Tuesday Nov 1, 1938 in Des Moines, Iowa. Both are buried in Glendale Cemetary of that city.)

Claude attended school in Perry, Iowa, graduated from Highschool there and went to Junior college in Perry. Had two years at college in Ames, Iowa. He was wholesale territory representative for J.H. Matthews Auto Co., and for ten years was with Willys-Overland Inc.

In March 1936 he was elected Mayor of Urbandale, Iowa and again elected in 1938. His last position was for Solar Air Craft in Des Moines, Iowa.
