The one story that I like to use about my grandpap Clawson is that he wasdisabled by two different accidents. In one, he lost three fingers onhis right hand and he had only his thumb and pointer finger. He had theother arm amputated above the elbow in another accident. When he was inhis sixties and seventies, he was the manager at a Western Auto store inSeward, Pennsylvania. One day, a young guy came in and pulled a gun onhim and tried to rob him. I guess he figured he would be an easy preysince he was old and disabled. My grandfather reached under the counterand pulled out the gun (A 38, I believe) that he always had at the storewith him and told the guy that if he didn't leave the store in fiveseconds that he was going to shoot him. This guy didn't expect this andhe hightailed out the store without ever trying to take my grandfatheron. They caught this guy later on. My grandfather could be downrightstern when he needed to be but he was still a fun person to be around.Also with his disabilities, he drove a standard shift automobile most ofhis life.
