I am from the Caldwells of Missouri related to Kinkead Caldwell group. It seems I can trace back to Joseph 1720 and Samuel 1740? Va. Then I think back to Ireland to William 1577 then it goes dead. Anyone that has info from before 1577. Have heard so many stories I do not know which to believe. Anyone point me in the right direction.

I googled Caldwell to trace the descendants of Robert Caldwell, a London Missionary Society missionary to South India in the 19th century. In fact he was also a philologist and researcher and can be credited with identifying the South Indian languages as separate from Sanskrit-based languages. Would you have him in your database? :) or perhaps I could ask the question the other way round: if you don't you might want to "check him out". :)

Hey there, to anyone who could help me. I've always wanted to learn more about my heritage. The only thing I really know is that my father's grandfather was adopted by the Caldwells and I don't know how to learn anything else. My dad died Dec. 11th, 2011, from Walnut, Mississippi and his name is David Anthony Caldwell. If anyone could help me at all I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you!

John --

Glad to have found this website. I know it will be helpful once I dig further back into my Caldwell family.

Thanks again.

I enjoyed reading your collections o family stories some I had read before others were new and interesting. Unfortunately I have not met many of my Caldwell family. My family settled in Bomont West Virginia, Clay County. My dad Cledith Bob Caldwell continues to reside on a portion of the original Caldwell family farm.

Looking for an Elizabeth Caldwell, born about 1770 in Ireland, came to the US (Pennsylvania) about 1800. Married about 1795 in Ireland to Joseph S. Carlon (also born about 1760 in Ireland). Elizabeth was possibly a Scotch-Irish protestant, while Joseph was Irish Catholic. Had at least one son in Ireland before leaving; son died on the sea journey to America. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Sir / Madam

Regards. I am trying to re-publish the works of Rev. Robert Caldwell one by one. Many of them have not been printed for a second time. There are 17 books in English written by him. 7 books in Tamil I need the first edition versions of his books. Any format would do. Pdf file or MS-word file may be useful. I am labouring to make the name of Rev. Robert Caldwell's name well-known to everyone in India. This 2014 marks the two hundredth year of the birth of Rev. Robert caldwell.
Yet, not more than two of his works have been printed again. All works have seen just a single print ( edition ) and gone into oblivion. I am going to bring to light the noble labour of Rev. Robert Caldwell and make him known to the entire world.

Please send me the pdf file version or MS-word version of ReV. Robert Caldwell's works by e-mail. I am embarking on a non-profitable book publishing venture.
Contact me by e-mail only.

Thanking you
Yours friendly

Interesting web site. My great grandmother is traced to Hugh Caldwell. It is documented that Hugh Caldwell of Virginia spoke often of the cups with the crest of caldwell and from time to time he showed this to his family.
Thank you for posting your information.
